who we are

OUR STORY

Our company was established in 2008 as Matthews Plumbing Limited by Chris Matthews. Chris was a one man band for many years, working hard to build up his client database. After six years he had built a loyal group of regular clients. With more gasfitting enquiries coming through, Chris studied and passed his Certifying Gasfitting exam.

We then became Matthews Plumbing and Gasfitting Limited.

In 2016, Chris and Haley Matthews knew it was time to start growing the team. They were confident they could offer great service in both plumbing and gasfitting around Auckland. We became Master Plumber members and attend their training and conferences. A bonus for our clients is the Master Plumbers Guarantee.

We have built our team slowly to ensure we have the right people who align with our business and values.

At the end of 2022, we moved from our home office in Te Atatu into our new office and workshop in Hobsonville.

In 2023, we started our largest commercial project, the NZ Post building in Albany, which the team successfully completed in 2024.

In April 2024, we faced the heartbreaking loss of our first team member, Connor Lamb. Connor played an important part in the Matthews Plumbing and Gasfitting journey, and his memory will always remain with us. During that year, the team were able to diversify and strengthen our services by offering complete bathroom renovations.

We started 2025 with a brand new website to help our clients find information, pricing, and blogs more easily.

We can’t wait to see what 2026 has in store for us.
